Goal

GOAL

The goal of this project is creating an external hardware device which can be conneted to iPhone/iPod Touch, in order to:

  • communicate with an external controller device for games (JoyPad SNES)
  • give a A/V composit output to watch iPhone/iPod Touch screen on TV
  • allow sync/charging of the device with a PC

snes2iphone_interface

The interface will be integrated bt a driver that will support SNES joypad in every* single application installed on a device, with no need to recompile the whole app.

final_struct

The idea is enhancing the game experience on iPhone/iPod Touch giving an alternative input source to touch screen and accelerometer without having to modify pre-installed applicazions (no need to ask each single developer to modify his app).

*: every app that can be supported

PRICING

The project is thoroughly free and open source.
Source code for SNES2iPhone driver and electric schemes for making your own hardware interface will be provided.

LICENSE

This Project is made available under a GNU GPL v3.

PRODUCTION AND DISTRIBUTION

We don’t have the means to produce this interface on a large scale. This is why we will provide electrical schemes and offer free support. Making the hardware interface is very simple, so most users with an average electronic knowledge will be able to do it. Also the cost of components is fairly low: less than 10 $.

All information on how to make your own hardware interface are available on the documentazion page.
If you are interested in producing this interface on a large scale, please contact us through the about page.
